Mission
   The mission of the Houston Biomaterials Research Center (HBRC) is to support and develop research, education and training in biomaterials at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
 
Objectives
  • to investigate applied and fundamental biological, clinical, mechanical, chemical, and physical properties of biomaterials for dental, craniofacial and other applications
  • to develop interdisciplinary research and educational collaboration in biomaterials to support specialized seminars, training programs, and other educational efforts
  • to enhance continuing education in biomaterials
  • to develop an environment of excellence for the research training of visiting faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and professional students
  • to develop liaisons with dental and medical industries, and other universities leading to collaborative activities
  • to encourage and support the development of patents
  • to acquire funding from industry, federal and state agencies, and foundations for the support of the activities of the HBRC
