| Mission |
| The
mission of the Houston Biomaterials Research Center (HBRC) is
to support and develop research, education and training in biomaterials
at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. |

| Objectives |
- to
investigate applied and fundamental biological, clinical,
mechanical, chemical, and physical properties of biomaterials
for dental, craniofacial and other applications
- to
develop interdisciplinary research and educational collaboration
in biomaterials to support specialized seminars, training
programs, and other educational efforts
- to
enhance continuing education in biomaterials
- to
develop an environment of excellence for the research training
of visiting faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students,
and professional students
- to
develop liaisons with dental and medical industries, and
other universities leading to collaborative activities
- to
encourage and support the development of patents
- to
acquire funding from industry, federal and state agencies,
and foundations for the support of the activities of the
HBRC
