O. Burgess, D.D.S. M.S., Louisiana State University School of Dentistry,
gave a Restorative Dentistry Update Friday, July 15.
In honor of its 100-year anniversary, the Dental
Branch at Houston was recognized by the Texas Legislature with the passing
of two independent resolutions.

Burgess, following his talk.
Nationally renowned clinical researcher John O. Burgess, D.D.S.
M.S., Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, gave
a Restorative Dentistry Update Friday, July 15, at the UT
Dental Branch. Burgess’ talk focused on several aspects
of clinical research, including new ways of identifying and
treating caries. A reception was held at the Dental Branch,
allowing faculty, staff and students to speak with him about
his eye-opening research in the field of dentistry.
Burgess is a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry.
He received his M. S. in Biomedical Sciences from the Dental
Branch and completed a one year General Practice Residency
and a two year General Dentistry Residency. Burgess has published
more than 200 articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters.
He lectures extensively throughout North and South America,
Europe, and Asia and has presented more than 400 Continuing
