Coy takes new role as Director of Educational and Facilities Support Services

 

Following the recent retirement of Mark Herrin, who served as the director of Educational Support Services at the Dental Branch for more than 24 years, longtime employee Jon Coy has assumed the vacant position.

 

Coy is also retaining responsibility for Facilities Improvement, under the new combined title Director of Educational and Facilities Support Services. This new operating unit is responsible to the executive associate dean of the Dental Branch and oversees the Instrument Rental Program, preclinical laboratory, preclinical and clinical equipment maintenance and various other preclinical, didactic and clinical education support functions. Coy will also continue to direct project designs, cost estimates, space allocation, building security, house keeping, and project management/budgetary reports.

 

"I appreciated the opportunity to work with and get to know Mr. Mark Herrin,” Coy said. “Over the past 24 years Mark was a valuable asset to this organization and will be missed by all. I am greatly appreciative of this opportunity to serve the Dental Branch, its students, faculty and staff in my new role.”

 

Coy, who has worked at the Dental Branch more than 10 years, added that meeting the needs of clients will remain top priority for Educational and Facilities Support Services. “My staff and I look forward to receiving any feedback at anytime that might help us become more efficient in providing our services throughout the Dental Branch,” he said.

 

As part of Coy’s new responsibilities he is also charged with reviewing ways in which Educational Facilities and Support Services may be reorganized to work efficiently and effectively. For the present, however, there will be no organizational changes. John A. Valenza, D.D.S., executive associate dean of the Dental Branch, said employees will be kept informed of any modifications that may take place in response to the recent change.
