DB to host former U.S. Surgeon General

Jocelyn Elders, M.D., former Surgeon General of the United States, will deliver the keynote address 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, at the UT Dental Branch during the American Medical Student Association’s Achieving Diversity in Dentistry and Medicine Leadership Training Program. The UT Dental Branch and the UT Medical School will host the conference Monday, July 25-Friday, July 29. Watch the Centennial Web site for additional information in the coming days.

Rice to speak at ADHA meeting

Holly Rice, clinical assistant professor in Periodontics, will present the poster, “A Comparison of the Academic Performance of Certificate and Baccalaureate Students,” at the American Dental Hygienists Association meeting in Las Vegas, on Thursday, June 23. Stewart Turner, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at the UT Medical, assisted Rice with the statistical analysis of the data.

Centennial success!

Ninety-two percent of the May 2005 graduates earned passing scores on the Western Regional Board Examination administered at the Dental Branch May 12 -15. Congratulations to the Centennial class on their last hurrah!

Holiday dates are also accessible on the University Calendar at http://www.uthouston.edu/calendar/. Tentative calendars through fiscal year 2009 also are posted on the Web site.
