Dental Branch consistent in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts

Since the first bus of Hurricane Katrina evacuees entered Houston, Dental Branch faculty, staff, students and alumni have been working diligently to provide urgent dental care through the mobile dental van, parked at the George R. Brown Convention Center, and in the urgent care clinic at the Dental Branch. Thank you to everyone who has given time, energy and talent.

John O’Black, director of Instructional Media at the UT Dental Branch, was honored during a UTVolunteers appreciation luncheon for spearheading the Dental Branch’s participation in the Pets and People Food Drive, conducted in response to Hurricane Katrina. O’Black, with assistance from Darrell Gonzales and Brian Schnupp, also in Instructional Media, collected over $800 and several pounds of food from the Dental Branch family. Congratulations to O’Black and his team.
