TAWD Faculty Auction
The annual Texas Association of Women Dentists Faculty Auction
will begin noon, Thursday,
March 16, in Dental Branch Room B81. A silent auction
will begin at noon, with a live auction starting at 5
p.m. Faculty, staff and students are invited to join
the bidding.
But before there are good things to buy, the TAWD needs help
with the supply. Please donate items to auction by Tuesday,
March 14. Need ideas?
Popular gifts in the past have been: event tickets, gift
certificates to restaurants, home-cooked meals, wine and cheese
baskets, your parking space for a day and similarly nifty
gifts.
The auction was an enormous success last year, providing
fun as well as valuable funding for the organization. Through
the support and generosity of TAWD members, classmates, faculty,
alumni and Houston area businesses, the organization is able
to participate in several activities that contribute to the
enhancement of the dental profession and the social and professional
awareness of TAWD members.
Contact: Patricia.D.Norris@uth.tmc.edu,
(713) 500-4438 or Carin.E.Doughty@uth.tmc.edu,
(713) 664-9429. The TAWD is excited and appreciates any donations
received.
Bring a suit to work!
It’s a nice suit, but it’s not you. The shoes
are new, but too tight. And you haven’t worn those blouses
or skirts in a year. If these thoughts cross your mind each
morning while going through your closet, then listen up!
Monday, March 20-Friday,
March 24, the Committee on the Status of Women and
the UT School of Nursing Association will sponsor “Send
One Suit" (SOS) Week, a project of the Dress for Success
program.
Dress for Success helps advance low-income women's economic
and social development through career development and employment
retention.
Please donate:
- Coordinated, contemporary, interview-appropriate skirt
suits and pant suits
- Tailored blouses
- Blazers and jackets
- Professional shoes
- There is a particular need for larger-sized suits
Donations will be accepted throughout the health science
center. Visit http://www.uth.tmc.edu/csw/dress4success.html
for drop-off locations. Contact: Charlotte.D.Scott@uth.tmc.edu.
