“UT Dentists” has been chosen as the operational
name for the new Faculty Practice. The clinic, which will
house the practice, is under construction on the first floor
of the Dental Branch where the former Room 101 Faculty Clinic
previously operated. The UT Dentists clinic is scheduled to
open this summer. Contact: Thomas.A.Servos@uth.tmc.edu,
interim executive director at (713) 500-4273.
The Dental Branch Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system
made a successful debut April 5 at the Graduate Practice Residency
(GPR) clinic. The clinic, located in the UT Professional Building,
is now “paperless” with patient records and images.
This is the first pilot clinic for the EPR as the school continues
to move toward full implementation this summer.
Visit: http://www.db.uth.tmc.edu/educational_technology/2006/working_groups_041006.htm
for information on when the system will go live throughout
the school or ways you can ”test drive” the EPR.
During the President’s Update to the Dental Branch
Tuesday, April 11, James T. Willerson, M.D., informed the
school that the university was still waiting for state legislators
to make good on promises to approve $60 million in Tuition
Revenue Bonds to construct a new dental school building. Willerson
also told the audience that a new dental school building was
the UT Health Science Center’s top funding priority.
In addition, Willerson complimented Dental Branch administrators,
faculty, staff and students on the recent achievements, including
the honor of being ranked sixth out of 56 dental schools nationwide
by the American Dental Association due to scores on the 2005
National Dental Board Exam Part I.
Before leaving the Dental Branch he also stopped to observe
the progress being made on the simulation clinic and the Faculty
Practice clinic.
Congratulations to the Dental Branch students who participated
in the 2006 Health Care Team Competition, Tuesday, April 11.
DB students on the winning Blue Team were Arti Guar (D.D.S.
