Leslie Roeder, D.D.S., associate dean for Academic Affairs,
has been appointed a consultant to the Commission on Dental
Accreditation for a one-year term, starting in October. As
a consultant, Roeder will be involved in the review of other
dental schools seeking accreditation. Accreditation is a familiar
area to Roeder as she, and her staff, were responsible for
the outstanding commendations the Dental Branch received during
its 2005 accreditation. Congratulations, Dr. Roeder.

Harold Henson, assistant professor of Periodontics, was honored
at the 83rd American Dental Education Association annual session
for his service as President of the Supreme Chapter of Sigma
Phi Alpha, the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society.
During his tenure, Henson awarded the first ADEA/Sigma Phi
Alpha Linda DeVore Scholarship to Kelly Munley from The Baylor
College of Dentistry’s Caruth School of Dental Hygiene.
A previous issue of the eflash insinuated that Henson received
this award.
