Prosthodontics faculty pass exam

 

Grace Lee, D.D.S., Prosthodontic resident; Maria Gonzalez, D.D.S., assistant professor of Prosthodontics; and Leticia Perezous, D.D.S., assistant professor of Prosthodontics, passed Part One of the American Board of Prosthodontists Examination. Congratulations on the job well done.


Roeder appointed to the Texas Academy of Health Science Education

Leslie Roeder, D.D.S., associate dean for Academic Affairs, has been selected to be a member of The University of Texas Academy of Health Science Education. Roeder is one of 24 new members to be chosen from 71 nominees, “a reflection of the Academy’s recognition of your excellent contributions to health science education,” said Maximillian Buja, M.D., executive vice president for Academic Affairs at the UT Health Science Center and president of the UT Academy of Health Science Education. Under the auspices of The University of Texas System, the academy brings together faculty to share information and ideas on health science education.

A formal ceremony will take place at the annual meeting of the academy in conjunction with the third annual Innovations in Health Science Education Conference, October 5 and 6, at the Commons Center of the J.J. Primary Bay Instructor named

Jay Welch, D.D.S., has been appointed to the full-time position of Primary Bay Instructor in the department of Restorative Dentistry. “Dr. Welch is an experienced practitioner whose dedication to teaching and patient care will benefit everyone at the Dental Branch,” said Arthur Jeske, D.M.D., Ph.D., chair of Restorative Dentistry.


Duke presents paper at international meeting

Jackie Duke, Ph.D., presented at the 27th meeting of the International Society for Gravitational Physiology held at Osaka University in Osaka Japan, April 23- 28. The paper was titled “Human Bone-Forming Chondrocytes Cultured in The Hydrodynamic Focusing Bioreactor Retain Matrix Proteins: Similarities To Spaceflight Results.”

Co-authors were Jacqueline Hecht, Ph.D., professor of Pediatrics and Genetics at the Medical School, and Dina Montufar-Solis, senior research associate in the department of Diagnostic Sciences at the Dental Branch.

Star of the South Table Clinic Winners - Prosthodontics

 
Grace E. Lee, D.D.S., Prosthodontic resident, won second place in the specialist category during the Star of the South dental meeting for "Comparative Retentive Force of Denture Acrylic Resins to Chromium Cobalt Test Frameworks using Different Acrylic Retention Designs and a Metal Primer."   (Left to right) Third Place in the specialist category was awarded to assistant professors of Prosthodontics, Maria Gonzalez, D.D.S., and Leticia Perezous D.D.S., along with associate professor of Prosthodontics Donald Belles, D.D.S. (not pictured) for "An Impression Technique for Immediate Complete Dentures."


Bouquot presents at Star of the South Meeting

Jerry Bouquot, D.D.S., chair of Diagnostic Sciences, gave a half-day seminar on “Odd Tongues” to nearly 300 conference attendees. Bouquot discussed a variety of very rare and very common clinical problems associated with the tongue.
