The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston will
have much, and many, to be proud of during today’s
Faculty Honors Convocation, sponsored by The University
of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Twenty-five Dental Branch faculty members will be appreciated
for the prestigious honors they have received in the 2006
academic year.
The highlight of this afternoon’s festivities will
be the President’s Scholar Awards for Research and
Teaching, which Dental Branch Dean Catherine M.
Flaitz, D.D.S., received in 2004. This year’s
awardees are Ponnada A. Narayana, Ph.D. and Ferid Murad,
M.D., Ph.D., (Research), along with Henry Strobel, Ph.D.,
(Teaching). Cleverick Johnson, D.D.S.,
professor in Restorative Dentistry, served on this year’s

The honors convocation is an esteemed awards ceremony.
