DB People … Dr. Arthur Jeske

Arthur Jeske, Ph.D., D.M.D., the chairman of Restorative Dentistry at the Dental Branch, is known nationwide for his unique expertise in drug use in dentistry.

Jeske has served as a faculty member of the Dental Branch since 1978, teaching local anesthesia, restorative dentistry and dental therapeutics.

Jeske received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and had no thoughts of dentistry until “I began teaching dental students as part of my graduate training,” he said.

Jeske said it was then that he became interested in the profession and began to learn how his experience in pharmacology could advance the dental profession.

Today, in addition to serving as a full time faculty member, Jeske often serves on the editorial review panels of three publications, including two reference textbooks.

Jeske is a member of the Greater Houston Dental Society and the Texas Dental Association. In recognition of all his work in dentistry, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, where he received his Ph.D. and D.M.D. degrees.

In his free time Jeske enjoys working on cars. He owns a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda and another of his cars has won first place at two national Chevrolet events, in 2003 and 2004.
