

The University of Texas School of Dentistry is currently located at 6515 MD Anderson Blvd. in Houston's Texas Medical Center. This facility has been home to the school since 1955, but the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) is building a new dental school that will be ready for occupancy by 2012.
Zeb Poindexter Jr., DDS '56
Retired Houston dentist Zeb F. Poindexter Jr., DDS ’56, who was recently named “Faculty Emeritus” by The University of Texas School of Dentistry, has died at age 83. He was the school’s first African-American graduate and a member of the Class of 1956. Read Full Story

The University of Texas School of Dentistry Alumni Association has chosen Dean John A. Valenza, DDS, as the 2012 Alumnus of the Year. The award was presented at the alumni luncheon at the recent Star of the South Dental Meeting. Valenza is a Houston native who graduated from UTSD, then known as UT Dental Branch, in 1981.
