New or gently used clothing for teens is needed for the Harris County Psychiatric Center.

The UTHealth Committee on the Status of Women will collect new and gently used clothing now through Friday, Feb. 22 to support teen patients at the UT Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC). Efforts will be focused on the needs of teenagers, but all donations will be accepted and appreciated.

At the School of Dentistry, leave donations in the Library and Learning Commons. UTSD’s representatives on the committee are Assistant Librarian Janet Peri, Ext. 4204, and Dr. Ana Neumann, Ext. 4261.

HCPC serves adult mental health patients; teens under custody of Child Protective Services, the juvenile system and private care; and children of adult patients. HCPC typically serves about 7,000 patients per year, and many times these patients and their children are desperately in need of clothes and shoes.

Items needed include:

New underclothes and socks
New and used modest & age-appropriate clothes:  T-shirts, jeans, pants, sweatshirts and jackets
Shoes:  tennis shoes and school-appropriate shoes
Personal hygiene items: shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant
