University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston alumnus Douglas Terry, DDS ’78, has donated two copies of his newly updated textbook, “Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry,” to the school’s library.

Terry co-authored the 700-page book, which details procedures, techniques and materials used in esthetic dentistry. The richly produced, coffee-table-sized work includes hundreds of color illustrations and photos. It covers the latest, evidence-based concepts and materials as well as detailed step-by-step illustrations of everyday clinical procedures.

Terry practices in Houston and is also a clinical assistant professor at the school. He has published numerous articles and lectured widely on esthetic dentistry.

“This is a unique, well-referenced text that includes lots of good science as well as good visuals,” said Raymond Koeppen, DDS, MBA, MS, chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.

The books, which sell for $400 each, came inscribed with personal notes from Terry.  “Remember these are only words on paper until you bring them to life with your imagination,” he wrote.
