The Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Society has awarded the 2013 Esther Wilkins Award to Professor Donna Warren-Morris, RDH, MEd, of the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at The University of Texas School of Dentistry.
The award is presented annually to a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and GHDHS for outstanding contributions to the dental hygiene profession. The award includes a plaque and $250 from Procter & Gamble.
The award is named for Esther M. Wilkins, RDH, DMD, an icon in the field of dental hygiene. She authored the highly regarded textbook, “Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist,” currently pending an 11th edition. She was the founding director of dental hygiene at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and is currently a clinical professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.
