UTHealth faculty are encouraged to reserve Oct. 25 for a program at the School of Dentistry on student stress, burnout and suicide.

Faculty members across The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) are invited to save the date for a special presentation, “What You Need to Know About Student Stress, Burnout and Suicide,” scheduled for 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at the
Denton A. Cooley, MD and Ralph C. Cooley, DDS University Life Center, 7440 Cambridge.  Pre-registration details will be announced soon.

UTHealth School of Dentistry Dean John A. Valenza, DDS, heard the presenter, Mayo Clinic Associate Professor Liselotte N. Dyrbye, MD, speak on this topic at the 2010 Dean’s Conference hosted by the American Dental Education Association and felt the message may be of great interest to other faculty and leaders of UTHealth.

“Dr. Dyrbye’s research and experience with this topic are most impressive, and her findings and message relate to any faculty member who works with health professions students and residents,” Valenza said.

Dyrbye is a consultant in the Division of Primary Care Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.  and chairs the Clinical Experiences Committee for the Mayo Medical School. She is a member of the Mayo Medical School Curriculum and Education Committee and associate director of the Department of Medicine program on Physician Well-Being.

More information about registration for this free program will be announced soon.
