Dr. Paravina to Receive 2014 Schweitzer Research Award

University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston Professor Rade D. Paravina, DDS, MS, PhD, has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Jerome M. and Dorothy Schweitzer Research Award of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics Foundation. The award honors some of the most respected leaders in dentistry and includes a certificate, medallion and a research stipend of $2,500 to be presented during the Fall Scientific Meeting Dec. 4-6, 2014 at Lincoln Center in New York.
Paravina is director of UTSD’s Houston Center for Biomaterials and Biomimetics and holds the Ralph C. Cooley, DDS Distinguished Professor in Biomaterials. He is on the faculty of the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.
The Foundation’s 2013 Awards Chair, Dr. Stephen Chu, described Paravina as “an internationally renowned prosthodontist, researcher, teacher, lecturer and opinion leader in color science in dentistry” and said the group “is excited to celebrate [his] exceptional achievements.”
