Endodontics Team in National Spotlight at AAE Meeting

The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston was well represented at the American Association of Endodontists meeting in Washington, D.C. earlier this month, with 16 people presenting either lectures, poster research presentations, or oral research presentations.

Two UTSD residents were honored for their research presentations:  Dr. Valerie Okehie won $1,000 for her oral research presentation, “Methylation levels as a potential biomarker in the development of periapical lesions,” and Dr. Mamatha Yadlapati won $1,000 for her poster presentation, “Mesenchymal stem cells in the periapical environment: Evidence from human and experimental periapical lesions.”

Dr. Jody Welch was “pinned” at the Grossman luncheon to honor her achieving diplomate status with the American Board of Endodontics.

Department Chair Samuel Dorn, DDS, was elected to a two-year term as president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations.
