Deans, straight razors & chili pie on 'Movember' Monday

mustache

See faculty beards become mustaches at noon Monday, Nov. 26 on the Cooley Center patio.

The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston chapters of the American Student Dental Association and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity are teaming up to create an event that will raise money to donate to Movember’s Health Initiatives, including the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG

To draw a crowd and also help to raise donations, Dean John A. Valenza, DDS, and other male faculty members have agreed to lend their bearded faces for a professional straight-razor shaving, leaving only mustaches intact.  This will be done between noon and 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 on the patio outside the Denton A. Cooley, MD and Ralph C. Cooley, DDS University Life Center. Free Frito-chili pie will be served to volunteers and spectators.

After school at 5 p.m. Monday, all the UT Dentist Mo’s will gather for awards in various Mustache Categories. For more information, contact third-year dental student Bryce.M.Gates@uth.tmc.edu, who is involved with both ASDA and Psi Omega.
