The University of Texas School of Dentistry's Dental Hygiene Program is committed to providing the educational experiences students need for successful careers as registered dental hygienists. Dental Hygiene Program is part of the Department of Periodontics and Hygiene.
The program has maintained a strong clinical and academic history since admitting the first dental hygiene class in 1955, offering a fully accredited two-year program leading to either a certificate or bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene. Approximately 40 students are admitted each fall semester.
In 2005, UTSD began offering an online bachelor's degree completion program for students who previously earned certificates in dental hygiene through the School of Dentistry.
Our dental hygiene faculty includes regionally and nationally recognized educators with extensive knowledge and experience, who challenge and inspire students to push the boundaries of thinking and learning. If you are committed to learning, the UTSD Dental Hygiene Program is the place for you!
