June M. Sadowsky, DDS, MPH holds a full time appointment as an Associate
Professor in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at the
UTHEALTH School of Dentistry in Houston.
Dr. Sadowsky received her DDS in
1982 from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental
School and earned her MPH in 1995 from The University of Texas Health Science Center
at Houston School of Public Health. She
completed a fellowship in Geriatric Dentistry and Geriatric Clinical Research
in 1995 and 1998 respectively. She became
a Fellow in the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry in 1995 and is a
Diplomate of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry.
Dr. Sadowsky, a dentist geriatrician, is past president of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry, past President of the Geriatric and Gerontology Section of the American Dental Education Association and Board Member of Special Care Dentistry. She serves as the Chairman of the Council of Dental Economics of the Texas Dental Association and is on a legislatively mandated workgroup to set the fee schedule for Medicaid-eligible nursing home residents in Texas. She is co-founding member of the Houston Geriatric Education Center (HRSA Grant) and has been an invited speaker nationally and offers continuing education on the unique aspects of geriatrics. As an ad hoc member of the Houston Consortium on Aging, Dr. Sadowsky has a role in the inclusion of dentistry in the Houston geriatric landscape and help as reviewer for the Ethel and Albert Herzstein Foundation Aging Grant. Her current role in the department is to teach geriatric content in all four years of dental school and dental hygiene and serves as 2nd Attending Clinical Faculty in the junior and senior patient arena.
