Patricia A. Suarez DDS, MS, FAOMP was born and educated in Caracas, Venezuela and obtained her dental degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Upon arriving in Houston, Dr. Suarez completed her advanced graduate courses at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston in 1997, specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
During her residency program, she did rotations in both Oncology and Head and Neck Pathology. She has worked as a research assistant in the Departments of Head and Neck Surgery and Surgical Pathology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. She began her teaching career in 1997 with courses in General Dentistry and in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. Dr. Suarez has taught classes in Venezuela, as well as organizing and participating in an Oral Pathology Conference.
At present, Dr Suarez divides her time between a thriving private practice in General Dentistry, and her work as a part-time faculty member in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, where she continues to lecture and teach courses in Oral Pathology, and is an active part of the Biopsy Service. Dr. Suarez has a special interest in the early detection of oral cancers, salivary gland diseases and neoplasms, and didactic strategies for the active practitioner in dentistry.
