Dr. Sam Dorn is professor and chair of the department of endodontics, and program director at the University of Texas at Houston where he also holds the Frank B. Trice, DDS, Professorship in Endodontics. Dorn received his DDS from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry and served in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. Previously, he was an adjunct professor of endodontics at the University of Florida in addition to maintaining a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is also the founding director of postgraduate endodontics at Nova Southeastern University.
He is a past president of the AAE (2002-2003), and also has served as a director on the Association's Board of Directors. He is a past director and officer of the American Board of Endodontics and past and current Trustee of the AAE Foundation. He currently serves as the President-elect of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations. He is a Diplomate of the ABE and Fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Dorn has authored many articles and textbook chapters, and lectured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Dr. Dorn was the recipient of the 2013 Coolidge Award for lifetime achievement, the highest award presented by the American Association of Endodontists.
