UTHealth School of Dentistry

Research manifests itself in many ways at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry. One major segment of the research activity is supported by extramural funding. The funds support a broad span of scientific investigations dealing with oral and craniofacial tissues.

There are numerous opportunities for students to participate in research during their dental education. First-year dental students may elect to participate in the Research Focus during the summer of their first year. This provides a structured introduction to research via preparation of a research proposal, doing the research, and writing an abstract and/or paper. Students are encouraged to submit their abstracts for presentation at appropriate research meetings throughout the year.
