Purpose
as stated in the UTDB Bylaws
"The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by
the Senate, shall be to encourage and facilitate research at the
Dental Branch."
Committee Charge
- Foster basic and clinical research by faculty, staff and students
- Identify and develop sources of funding for pilot projects
by Dental Branch investigators
- Develop with the Dean and Center Directors sources of funding
for student research scholarships
- Identify, solicit and evaluate applications for pilot project
funding, including any and all requests for faculty incentive
plan funds in support of research, and student research scholarships.
Make recommendations for awards to the Associate Dean for Research
and/or the principal investigator as appropriate
- Ensure research activities are in compliance with Federal,
State, and University regulations
- Publicize research activities, including an annual Research
Day, Student Research Day and other opportunities at the Dental
Branch
- Interact with the UTHSC-Houston Research Centers and provide
input to the activities of the Centers
