"The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by the Senate, shall be to evaluate the academic performance of undergraduate dental and dental hygiene students and their suitability to receive professional degrees or certificates, to recommend to the Dean their academic status including promotion or dismissal. The Committee shall coordinate endorsement of student awards with the Office of Student Affairs. The Committee shall also make recommendations to the Dean and Senate regarding student disciplinary policies, rules and practices. The actions of the committee shall be in accordance with guidelines approved by the Senate."

Committee Structure

• The Committee will consist of four subcommittees with members appointed by the Dean in accordance with the Bylaws.  These subcommittees are Dental Hygiene, 1st Year Dental, 2nd Year Dental, and a combined 3rd and 4th Year Dental.
• Members of each Subcommittee will elect a chair and vice-chair.
• The Committee will elect a Committee Chair from among the Subcommittee chairs.

Committee Charge

• Each Subcommittee will evaluate student progress according to standards established by the Faculty and make recommendations directly to the Dean concerning the academic status of each student and any necessary academic action.  The Evaluation and Promotion Subcommittees will be responsible for making recommendations concerning remedial or corrective action for students with deficiencies.  Each Subcommittee will also make recommendations concerning disciplinary action.
• Ensure communication and coordination among the Evaluation and Promotion Subcommittees.
• Review and endorse student nominees for awards submitted by the Office of Student Affairs.
• Review Student Evaluation and Promotion Committee procedures annually and make recommendations to the Senate.
• Review academic standards and make recommendations to the Senate
• Consider student appeals in accordance with Senate approved guidelines.
• Develop student disciplinary policies, rules and practices in accordance with the Board of Regents Rules.
