2009 - 2010 Clinical Affairs Committee

Purpose as stated in the UTDB Bylaws

The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by the Senate and reports to the Dean and Senate, shall be to evaluate and recommend procedures to insure proper clinical instruction, administration of comprehensive patient care and Quality Assurance/Quality Control issues.

Committee Charge

• Evaluate and recommend procedures to ensure optimal clinic instruction, administration, quality care and training in the Dental Branch and extramural clinics
• Make recommendations to maintain and improve the quality of the clinical care related to the prevention and control of infection and biohazards in the Dental Branch, and to monitor compliance with these policies and procedures
• Ensure the coordination of basic science, preclinical and clinical instruction
• Evaluate and recommend policies to guarantee that the Dental Branch is in compliance with accreditation standards in all clinical areas 

Committee Structure

• The Practice Leaders and DH Facilitators are regular members of the committee.
• The ex officio members include the Director of Clinical Services, Director of Environmental Health & Safety, Director Patient Services, Director of Pre-doctoral Clinical Education, Director of Quality Assurance and Associate Dean for Patient Care.
• The student members include one representative from the 3rd Year Dental class, one representative from the 4th Year Dental class and one representative from the 2nd Year Dental Hygiene class.
