2009 - 2010 Dental Hygiene Admissions
and Curriculum Committee

Purpose as stated in the UTDB Bylaws

The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by the Dean, shall be to serve in an advisory capacity to the Director of the School of Dental Hygiene, especially in areas of recruitment, admissions and academic programs.

Committee Charge

• Evaluate the credentials and qualifications of the student applicants and make recommendations to the Dean
• Recruit student applicants to the Dental Branch
• Evaluate students for advanced standing
• Identify possible sources of scholarships and evaluate scholarship applicants
• Ensure the excellence of the academic standards of the Dental Hygiene educational program
• Coordinate and evaluate the development and improvement of the Dental Hygiene didactic, preclinical and clinical curriculum
• Ensure the curriculum is in compliance with local, state and national standards
• Review instructional instruments and teaching resources
• Make recommendations to improve student performance on National Board Exams and Licensing Board Exams

Committee Structure

• Ex officio members of the committee include the Director of the School of Dental Hygiene, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Associate Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs.
• Student members include two representatives from the DH 2 class.
