2009 - 2010 Faculty Development
and
Evaluation Committee
Purpose as stated in the UTDB Bylaws
The purpose of this committee, which shall be charged by the Senate and reports
to the Dean, shall be to enhance development of Dental Branch faculty by identifying
and/or establishing development opportunities. It shall also solicit, review
and nominate faculty for Faculty Development Leave. The Committee will coordinate
and conduct the evaluation of the educational programs offered at the Dental
Branch and the effectiveness of the faculty and administration.
Committee Charge
- Evaluate faculty proposals for development leave and forward
recommendations to the Dean.
- Assist in identifying faculty development opportunities and developing
faculty training programs.
- Assist in identifying and implementing faculty development courses.
- Ensure appropriate methods of evaluation are available and implemented
for all educational programs offered at the Dental Branch
- Ensure appropriate methods of evaluation of faculty and administrators
are available and administered
- Communicate with the Chairs of the Appointment, Promotion and
Tenure; Curriculum, and Ad Hoc Merit Review Committees to coordinate
guidelines to prevent or reduce duplication of efforts and to develop
evaluations suitable for use by each and all groups
- Evaluate faculty nominees for faculty awards and/or special recognition,
and make recommendations to the Dean
Committee Structure
- The Ex Officio members are the Director for Continuing Education,
Associate Dean for Educational Research and Professional Development,
and Director of Educational Technology.
- There are no Students Members on the Faculty Development and
Evaluation Committee.
