The General Practice Residency Program
is a one-year experience in hospital dentistry sponsored by
The
University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston and is based
in the university's affiliate hospital,
Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Currently, the program enrolls eight
(8) residents each year. Each resident spends approximately
nine months in general dentistry, based in the University
Dental Center, a state-of-the-art clinical and educational
facility which supports all activities of the program. The
remaining three months of the year are scheduled rotations
in anesthesia, internal medicine, and oral & maxillofacial
surgery. Clinical and didactic instruction covers a wide range
of disciplines, including clinical dentistry, emergency medical
care, inpatient care & hospital organization, pain control
and anesthesiology, oral surgery, oral pathology & radiology,
practice management, research, special patient care, and temporomandibular
disorders.
The program accepts applications from
the Postodoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) and participates
in the National Matching Service program. Complete information
