All Dental Branch requests for computer hardware, software, peripherals, access to the Local Area Network (LAN) and the World Wide Web must be submitted to the Information Resource and Technology (IRT) Department. IRT is responsible for obtaining any necessary approvals from the Dean’s Office before initiating procurement.

As a general rule, personal computers and major peripherals are purchased through funds allocated by the Dean’s Office, as they become available. IRT spends these funds on a priority basis. Departments should endeavor to identify their computer requirements at budget preparation time which usually occurs between February and May each year. Departments may purchase lower priority items with their own resources. However, these purchases must also be processed through the IRT.
