Supplementation |
Faculty may be requested to assume significant administrative duties in addition to
their normal faculty responsibilities. These duties are often associated with faculty
members who become Department Chairs, Deans, or Program Directors. These duties are
normally formally assigned through an offer letter originating from an Associate Dean, a
Department Chair, or the Dean.
Department Chairs and Associate or Assistant Deans should begin
the process for this type of supplementation by writing a request
to the Dean in which the administrative duties are defined,
a recommended supplement is stated and justified, and the source
of funds is identified. It is strongly suggested that the responsible
party consult with the Dental Branch Office of Professional
Development before making such a recommendation. All administrative
supplementations are temporary and only apply while the supplemental
administrative duties are assigned.
If possible, administrative supplementations should be included in the annual budget
request. When an administrative supplementation is not included in the budget, the
Department Chair must submit a Personnel Action Request (PA)
form to the Deans Office. |
