Faculty Development Plan
The Dental Branch has demonstrated its commitment to develop and mentor its faculty by creating a Faculty Development Plan and Evaluation Plan. This Plan, developed by the department chairs and the Office of Professional Development in collaboration with the Faculty Senate, was approved by the Senate and the Dental Branch Administration for implementation in December 1997.
Our professional growth as demonstrated in this faculty planning process will be guided by our adherence to the Core Values of: Integrity, Honesty, Mutual Respect, Accountability, Fairness and Collegiality, which have been endorsed by the Health Science Center.

Evaluation Process
Evaluation of the faculty member’s accomplishments towards meeting established goals and objectives is an integral part of the process of career development. Therefore, each faculty member at Dental Branch will receive an annual performance appraisal. This appraisal will be conducted by department chairs, or their designee, and will be based on observed job performance, accomplishment of jointly set goals and objectives, and departmental mission.

The Faculty Development Plan and Evaluation Process will provide the opportunity for faculty and administration to jointly develop goals and objectives that are mutually supportive to the individual faculty and to the department. Additionally, the planning and evaluation process will provide an opportunity for mentoring of the faculty member by the department chair.
